Statement

My artistic production begins to take shape when I go to live in the countryside behind the eastern mountains of Bogotá, Colombia, in the Frailejonal village of the municipality of La Calera. The bucolic landscape and my continuous stay in the city is the perfect formula to develop pieces that will always be loaded with two agents: nature and culture. Poetics abound in the coalition of materials and ideas, taking the viewer on a journey through features of my life that emerge from intentional experience.

The bases of my work come from movement and stillness. Movement when my body travels the territory moving enormous distances on foot, recognizing that my physical mass is an extension of the earth, and that our interaction with different cultures makes identity an organic machine that is rooted in each event. And stillness when in the periods of sedentary lifestyle I withdraw from my close environment the necessary pillars as materials and concepts for the realization of projects with a mixture between the chance of the moment and the preconceived meaning, always trying to question or point out the cultural nature of the human being in both states. For this reason, it is a constant that my pieces are catalyzed by nature, since the climate, plants or animals intervene in them, transforming them into cultural treasuries of each territory.

These eclectic searches are carried out with a variety of techniques such as photography, painting, weaving, sculpture, video, sound, found objects, and intervened objects that are generally assembled as installations.
